JOIN US IN THE FIGHT AGAINST HUNGER

Did you know that there are nearly 9 million Black people throughout the country who do not have access to enough an adequate source of food to feed their families? According to a 2022 study conducted by the USDA, 1 in 5 Black people experience food hunger. On a national average, 17% of Black families are more likely to experience poverty than compared to other races.

The African American Museum in Philadelphia is proud to announce the launch of our new initiative, "AAMP in the Community" where we connect with community-based organizations, locally and throughout the Tri-State region, to support unserved and underserved communities.

HOW YOU CAN HELP
Throughout September, we’ve partnered with Philabundance to serve as a drop-off location for non-perishable food items. We invite you to consider stopping by the museum to donate what you can.
If you’re up for a challenge, we recommend you try to donate at least three of the following top 10 most-needed items:

Picture
  1. Peanut Butter & Jelly
  2. Cooking Oil
  3. Canned Stew & Soups
  4. Oatmeal & Breakfast Cereal
  5. Whole Grain Pasta
  6. Canned Tuna or Meat
  7. Canned Fruits & Vegetables
  8. 100% Juice
  9. Rice
  10. Boxed, Non-Refrigerated Milk

We will be open Thursday, September 12th through Sunday, September 29th for drop-offs. Donations can also be made on Wednesdays. Please contact us at [email protected] to coordinate drop-offs on these days.

Join us in making a difference in a family's life today. Any support no matter how big or small will go a long way.

As part of AAMP in the Community, we are working with community-based organizations to support unserved and underserved communities by striking meaningful partnerships with existing non-profit organizations throughout the Tri-State region.
