Complete an online application or mail your completed facility rental application form to the African American Museum in Philadelphia, 701 Arch Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106 or fax to (267) 818-10752. What type of events can be held in the museum? The Museum is the unique place to host most events, meetings, seminars, weddings, receptions, book signings, fashion shows, film screenings, parties, presentations, performances, and more. Can I bring and serve my own food? When having an event at AAMP, the services of a licensed caterer must be obtained. It is the policy of AAMP to allow only caterers to bring and serve food. Can alcoholic beverages be served at my event? Yes, however, a caterer must serve alcoholic beverages. Although liquor can be served, in accordance with Pennsylvania laws, alcoholic beverages can not be sold. Admittance to events where alcoholic beverages are served must be by invitation only. Can I hire my own caterer? The Museum has a list of preferred caterers who are familiar with the facility and its policies and rules. These caterers were chosen from a long list of those in the food service field, and we take great pride in recommending them for your event. However, if you prefer a caterer who is not listed, they will have to apply and qualify to be placed on our list before they can be permitted to serve at The African American Museum in Philadelphia. Can we walk through the museum to see the exhibitions during our event? If your event is during museum hours, you are permitted to view the exhibitions. If it is after the museum is closed, for a minimal fee, a tour guide can be enlisted to provide you with a guided tour. Is parking available? The museum has no on-site parking, however, there is a surface parking lot directly behind the Museum. Additional lots are within a one block radius.
