Assistant Curator / Visual Learning Specialist
Reporting to Vice President of Curatorial Services, and serving as a vital member of the Curatorial Department, the Virtual Learning Specialist is responsible for supporting the potential of the African American Museum in Philadelphia’s(AAMP) collections and exhibitions as learning resources for visitors and the wider virtual community. With guidance from the VP of Curatorial Services, you will conceive of, curate, publish, and create viewer-centered content for a virtual exhibition of AAMP’s Pearl Bailey Collection in Spring 2024. Learn More>>

Guest Services Representative
The Guest Services Representative reports directly to the Director of Guest Services. This position includes greeting and providing customer service to all Museum visitors, responding to inquiries, monitoring the galleries and safety of the visitors and art. This position conducts educational tours with school age children and adults. In addition, the Guest Services Representative assists the Guest Services Department with

Marketing Manager
The African American Museum in Philadelphia (AAMP) seeks a creative, strategic, and enthusiastic Marketing Manager who is responsible for developing and implementing strategies and coordinating the marketing initiatives that strengthen and promote the public image of the Museum. Under the leadership of the Deputy Director, the Marketing Manager is responsible for working with all internal stakeholders to create and implement marketing strategies related to the Museum’s public and educational programs, exhibits, membership, and other priority initiatives. The Marketing Manager will also coordinate the implementation of the Museum’s public relations functions with the firm contracted to manage the Museum’s public relations strategies. Learn More>>

Deputy Director
The Deputy Director works closely with the Museum’s senior management team to achieve its strategic, operating and business objectives. The Deputy Director provides direction and administrative management to the following departments: Education, Public Programming, Guest Services & Event Rentals. Works closely with the curatorial, education and sales (museum admission & event rentals) departments to fully integrate programs and activities in order to optimize their impact and fulfill AAMP’s strategic initiatives.  The Deputy Director also facilitates the integration of programming activities into Museum operations by coordinating exhibitions, rentals and program schedules with earned income initiatives. The Deputy Director responds to, oversees and manages AAMP’s partnerships with peer institutions and other organizations. Learn More>>

Museum Hours

To ensure the health and safety of our guests and employees the Museum has limited visits to four timeslots per day, observing the following hours of operations:

Thursday – Sunday : 10 AM – 5 PM
  • Time Slot 1: 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM
  • Time Slot 2: 12:00 PM – 1:15 PM
  • ​Time Slot 3: 1:45 PM – 3:00 PM
  • ​Time Slot 4: 3:30 PM – 4:45 PM
* Guests and employees are required to adhere to COVID-19 protocols as part of admittance to Museum galleries. Guests are required to wear masks during their visit and adhere to social distancing and other health and safety guidelines.
